The Wee Farm Distillery

We adore this gorgeous little micro distillery located in South Lanarkshire. The Wee Farm Distillery opened its doors in March 2018 and is located on the McKerr family small livestock farm in the village of Climpy, near Forth.

A one-woman operation, the distillery is run by Jenny McKerr and the artisan distillery produces a range of gins to celebrate the spirit of Scottish farming, sustainable products from the land are used and the heart of the business is their truly authentic craft Scottish Gin.

We love their classic Drover’s Gin which pairs perfectly with a great Scottish steak, and the Clydesdale Gin is also a popular choice.

Beinn an Tuirc

Translated from Gaelic as ‘The Hill of the Wild Boar’ this award-winning distillery sits underneath the highest point in Kintyre of the same name.

This small, family-run Kintyre distillery has been operating since 2017, and their signature Kintyre Gin is a must-try!

We adore that they use their own renewable energy which is powered from a 100kw hydroelectric scheme located on their Torrisdale Castle Estate, and the water used in the distillery is sourced from the hill that they take their name.

They offer tours of the distillery, and you can enjoy light lunches, G&T’s, and other beverages on their beautiful terrace. Well worth a visit.

Daftmill

Located in the heart of Fife, one of Scotland’s smallest malt whisky distillers uses their own barley, grown at Daftmill Farm, and sparkling water from their very own artesian well to create a range of fabulous malts.

The distillery has been open since 2005 and operates in harmony with the farm, which grows the barley that is used in the distillation process.

Their 2009 releases are proving popular, and as all releases are limited batch it’s always a great idea to buy a few bottles if you find something that you like. PS – we love the Daftmill 2009 Summer Release!

As Daftmill is a working farm, you would need to check in advance if they can receive visitors before arriving.

Ayr Brewing Company

Beer lovers will love The Ayr Brewing Company, which creates unique, high-quality ales in Ayr, the heart of Burn’s Country.

Their first ales were released in 2009 and soon they were racking up numerous awards at both a local and national level.

This 5 Barrel Micro Brewery is currently producing around sixty casks of ale a week and they supply pubs throughout the UK.

They are the first brewery in the area for over 80 years and operate out of The Glen Park Hotel, where you can enjoy a delicious meal and their ales on tap in the bar/restaurant.

With fun labels and names like Leezie Lundie’s Pale Ale and Jolly Beggars Best Bitter – we promise that you are in for a treat.
